An Aruval is a traditional and cultural knife for South-Indians. It is a type of bill-hook machete. It is used both as a tool and a weapon. Tamils reserve the weapon as a symbol of karupannar. In popular culture, it is sometimes associated with gangsters. In movies, it is used as a weapon of choice. In Kerala, its primary use is for agriculture, mainly in coconut cutting, clearing pathways, cutting wood and other uses.

History of Aruvals:
An aruval usually measures 3–6 feet in length (hand sickle measures 1.5 feet). The blade of this weapon originates at the grip and extends to the main part of the blade. It can be described as a sickle with an extension. It can also be thought of as a sword with a reverse curve. The shorter versions were handy for breaking apart coconuts, and the longer versions were more like battle weapons. The shorter version is usually seen in small villages. Blades are mostly straight with a curve towards the end, allowing it to function as a grabbing tool. The straight portion of the blade is also used for cutting, like a standard knife.

We, EGKH, recreated the machete with our touch it it. Usually, these machetes are 15 to 20 inches but with smaller handles and grip length. But we have a long handle so it looks and feels gigantic for the viewers and the workers as well.It is handmade ad hand forged by the finest of all blacksmiths in Nepal. We use ‘Carbon Steel 5160’ for the blade. The balanced water-tempering is carried out to make it strong and competitive. This is a sickle type machete. But, the Sickle small so we can also name this machete as a Sickle with Extension.

It has blade of length 56 cm (22 inches) and handle of length 42 cm (16 inches) which not only looks huge and strong but also is.

It can be used to chop logs and can work as a splitter.
